Love the view of sparkling oceans and sand in your toes? Create this DIY Sea Salt Spray for natural hair waves you can use at the beach or at home. Give your hair natural volume and texture with budget-friendly ingredients you can find in your pantry. Not only will you achieve naturally tousled hair, but you’ll have ample amounts of ocean-ready spray at a fraction of the cost.

This quick and easy method contains all-natural ingredients to protect you hair, while adding plenty of nourishing benefits.

Sea Salt

It’s always important to use sea salt rather than overly-processed table salt. The former keeps nutrients intact, while the latter contains artificial elements that alter its effectiveness. Sea salt packs plenty of minerals to help add volume and bounce to your hair, without harsh chemicals weighing it down.

If you have oily hair, this spray can help absorb excess moisture. However, avoid damaging your hair by using overly-concentrated salt straight from the ocean. Infusing coconut oil into the spray will help moisturize your luscious locks for a perfect wavy texture.

Coconut Oil

In addition to coconut oil moisturizing dry damaged hair, it also soothes the scalp and softens locks to keep them feeling smooth and shiny. Try using a homemade oil mask2-3 times a week to give your hair a deep conditioning with natural benefits.

Essential Oil

Choose any essential oil for a naturally fragrant spray you can customize you way. Lavender, lemon or orange work really well or you can create a mixture of your favorite scents. Additionally, oils with herbs like Lavender can add relaxing aromas and help promote healthy hair growth (1). Use it to nourish your hair, while helping moisturize and hydrate at the same time.

Epsom Salt

Epsom salt is a crystallized form of the mineral compound magnesium. Along with its many nourishing properties, epsom salt can help reduce excess oils in the hair and scalp. It also helps revitalize and add volume for naturally bouncy hair (2).

Lemon Juice

Lemons adds many beauty benefits aside from its culinary use. Consuming it daily can help promote perfect skin, while its vitamin C nutrients can repair dry or splitting hair. Try squeezing fresh lemon juice on your scalp to help nourish follicles.
